In Search of a Better World, collection of the author Sinara Foss

In Search of a Better World is a collection of books for children written by Sinara Foss. She is a Brazilian author,  a master's degree in English literature, who lives in the south of the country. This interesting collection  is composed by  5 novels. The narrator is  Sissi Yellow . A little hairy yellow dog that lives in a house with a small family where there are some other dogs and cats, all rescued  from the streets.

The 5 books composing the collection are:

- Sissi's Digressions- This story tells of Sissi and her friends. The group of  cats and dogs are together in a curious adventure, a mix of fun, criticism and a great respect for life. In this first book Sissi introduces the family and each character of the story in a graceful and witty way.

-Sissi and her Crew in The Future -  In this book, Sissi  and  her friends  are back for  another adventure. They go to the year 2050 through a magic fireplace which was once built by another person to be a barbecue grill. There, in 2050 future, the group finds a changed world, not for better. The pets also meet the author  Sinara in her eigthies in that future. Sinara tries to call attention for the environmental changes  and its consequences  for the days to come.
 

-  Sissi's Digressions Continue  -  The third book of the collection brings the narrator Sissi telling  funny episodes of her cats and dogs friends  that were introduced in the previous stories . Nevertheless, Sissi wants to talks seriously and  then  vents about subjects she considers relevant such as animal abandonment and mistreatment.  Sissi  also mentions several situations animals go through every days  in Brazil. Also  she  mentions the relevance of responsible ownership and castration as well as the impact pollution  on the environment.

- Sissi and her Crew in Africa -  In this book, Sissi and her friends enter the fireplace again and they go to Kibera, in Africa.  There they make  friends with some small boys who face difficult situations living in slums. The group of animals tries to do everything they can, to help those boys. 

- Sissi's Twilight - This book talks about old age, memories and not to escape from the collection theme:  nature  and  animal rights.  New  characters  are introduced  to the story, taking into consideration that new  cats  and dogs  were adopted  by the family and  are now living in the house  where Sissi  Yellow  lives. It also tells of  Sissi's death.
